EMU at Army open thread
Kickoff is scheduled for 12:05 pm — call it noon to be safe — so if you haven’t left yet, you’re too late. The game-time forecast calls for cloudy skies, temperatures in the mid-60s, and 11- to 13-mile-per-hour breezes. Nothing that should have a big effect on the game, except maybe to make EMU’s already awful field-goal kicking even worse.
The Eagles will be debuting new helmets. Although I’ve got a few issues with them (the Straights of Mackinac is only 5 miles wide, not 50; the feather-textured stripe looks more like wheat and is too wide, especially at the back; the number on the side with the state looks a little goofy), overall I think they’re one of the better new helmet or uniform designs I’ve seen. But, disclaimer: I also liked Maryland’s widely reviled uniforms, so what do I know?
The game will be shown on CBS Sports Network (you can look up the channel number for yourself here), which doesn’t seem to have a legal online stream. If you don’t have suitable cable or satellite, I’m sure almost any sports bar will carry it. The EMU radio broadcast will be on WEMU, 89.1 FM (or listen online for free). Don’t forget to follow @EMUFB, @EagleTotemblog, @PropJeremy, and keep an eye on #EMUFB on Twitter.1 And of course, you can always share your thoughts — whether about the EMU game or anything else2 — in the comments here.
