EMU at Penn State open thread
While you’ve got a few minutes this morning, and before you get too far into consuming your beverage of choice, go ahead and review all our coverage this week: Know Your Foe, the EMU depth chart, and Jeremy’s commentary.
The weather for today should be beautiful. The weather for game time at Beaver Stadium should be sunny and 70°F at kickoff, rising into the upper 70s and becoming partly cloudy as the game progresses. There should be no issues with rain, and the wind should be just a light breeze — nothing that should impact the game.
Kickoff is scheduled for noon — since it’s a six-hour drive from Ypsilanti, if you want to go, you’d better have already left! — and it’s Penn State’s home opener. At halftime, Penn State will honor their 1973 football team, the third of five perfect seasons coached by Joe Paterno. That team finished #5 in the polls, about which Paterno commented, “We have as much right to claim the top place as anyone else. We’re undefeated … I have my own poll, the Paterno poll, and the vote was unanimous: Penn State is #1.” The team included John Cappelletti, who Paterno said was the best football player he ever coached.1
The game will be televised on the Big Ten Network with streaming video at BTN2go.com. The EMU radio broadcast will be on WEMU, 89.1 FM (or listen online for free). Don’t forget to follow @EMUFB, @EagleTotemblog, and keep an eye on #EMUFB on Twitter. And of course, you can always share your thoughts — whether about the EMU game or anything else2 — in the comments here. As in the past, we’ll be at the post-game press conference, so feel free to suggest any questions.
