EMU 2012 football schedule announced
We’ve had some discussions about this previously, and for a while we thought we at least knew EMU’s opponents, if not the dates, but the Temple had to go and leave — and since they were on EMU’s schedule, that obviously meant something was going to change. The MAC football schedules were released today, and it turns out that not too much changed.

As far as EMU’s schedule goes, the MAC kept the trip to Bowling Green, although that’s no longer a divisional game, and replaced the trip to Temple with a Thursday night game at OHIO.
We’ll go into more detail — much more detail — on this schedule as the fall approaches, but a few things jump out at me. First, that’s a nice little home stand in October, and when you throw in the trip to Bowling Green, I can imagine the Eagles going 4-0 that month. Second, the MAC West games that I’d expect to be tough are pretty-well spaced out, with Ball State to open, Toledo right in the middle of the schedule, and Western Michigan in mid-November.
EMU has two Thursday night road games (August 30 at Ball State and November 1 at Ohio) but except for the return of the home game the Friday after Thanksgiving, which I’m already on record as disliking, the rest of the games are on Saturdays. No mid-week home games, and no Tuesday or Wednesday night games.
Dear cmadler,
I think the Ball State game could dictate the whole season. If, Eastern wins they are 1-0 in the MAC and should move on to beat Illinois State. They then, could maybe challenge Purdue to a good game. The worst record by then would be 2-1. If, Eastern loses to Ball State, the best they could be heading into Michigan State is 1-2, maybe. Eastern will not be picked to defeat MSU, and could be 1-3 heading into the Kent State game, which will really put the pressure on them with the fore mentioned Kent State, Toledo, and Army their next three games.
What do you guys think about the rumor that Stonum might come to EMU?
Funny you should ask! http://eagletotem.net/blog/2012/03/30/darryl-stonum-considering-a-transfer-to-emu/
Well as you know, I pay attention to that team as well….
Dear cmadler, and Ken,
If this is going to be a discussion on Stonum, my two-cents worth is; do not take him. He is skirting the legal system right now, and should be showing just the opposite, compliance. I also do not believe taking an athlete for one semester, will make that great a difference in your team’s performance.
This sends the wrong signal to the players who are already here, and might undermine the whole concept that I believe Coach English has tried to establish. I also think it would hurt Coach English’s rapport with his players. Eastern is developing a program and doesn’t need this kind of distraction.
